From the Demolished to the Ridiculous Call for Artists/Architects Artists/Architects working in any medium are invited to submit for From the Demolished to the Ridiculous, an exhibition and publication organised by Scare in the Community.  We are seeking art works that question, ridicule or counteract the unimaginative mediocrity typical of so many contemporary large scale regeneration projects. One such project is the recent proposal for the site of the illegally demolished Angel Cottage in Stratford, East London. Situated adjacent to the new Westfield shopping centre, the former Grade II listed Georgian cottage was intended to be replaced by multi-storey student accommodation that had little other design ambition than being profitable for the developer. From the Demolished to the Ridiculous is aiming to counter this pragmatic lack of spirit with a display of visionary art works and project proposals. ENTRIES can be any medium (video, architecture, performance, music, text...) and EITHER relate to the wider issues set out by the exhibition OR directly propose a piece for the Angel Cottage site. Please email images and a short description of the work to OR request an application template. All selected entries will be shown in the exhibition in Stratford in October 2011 and included in a publication. One selected proposal will be submitted as an official planning application to Newham’s planning department.

The call for entries is now closed.
