From the Picturesque to the Demolished
‘From the Picturesque to the Demolished’, which took place at Stratford’s Railway Tavern Hotel on September 27 2008, aimed to highlight the issues raised by the illegal demolition of Angel Cottage, a Georgian Grade II listed building. The event included works relating to ideas of destruction, political protest or regeneration by 20 international video and performance artists and architects. The evening also featured speeches by local residents and activists who have supported the reconstruction of one of the oldest surviving buildings in Stratford. ‘From the Picturesque to the Demolished’ was curated by Adrian Holme, Julika Gittner and Jon Purnell.
